Subject: Public Statement Regarding False and Defamatory Online Posts by Glenn Rumsey (Burnett River Clean)

For Immediate Release

Smithies Karaoke & DJ Hire wishes to address recent false and defamatory posts made publicly on Facebook by Mr. Glenn Rumsey, associated with Burnett River Clean, which have directly targeted our business and its reputation.

These posts, including but not limited to this link and this link, contain misleading, damaging, and untrue statements about our operations and professional integrity.

Under our Smithies Enterprises banner, we proudly operate several community Facebook groups — including, but not limited to, Bundaberg Forum — which exist to encourage healthy community engagement and discussion. The current issue originated within one of these groups when a community member made a post about Mr. Rumsey. Rather than contacting an administrator or moderator for assistance, Mr. Rumsey instead chose to publicly attack our business and its owner, creating unnecessary conflict and misinformation.

“We take great pride in the professional services we provide and the community partnerships we’ve built over many years,” said Wade Smith, Owner and Founder of Smithies Karaoke & DJ Hire. “It’s disappointing to see that instead of approaching our team directly for clarification or support, false statements were made publicly — statements that harm not only our business, but also the integrity of the broader Bundaberg community.”

Smithies Karaoke & DJ Hire would like to make it clear that this matter should not involve or reflect upon other business owners, the Bundaberg Regional Council, or Mayor Helen Blackburn, all of whom have no connection to this situation. Any attempts to draw unrelated parties into this issue are inappropriate and unwarranted.

Our company confirms that no disputes, misconduct, or wrongdoing exist to justify such public allegations. These statements are entirely baseless and appear to be targeted attempts to discredit our business and its leadership.

As a result, Smithies Karaoke & DJ Hire has sought legal advice and is considering formal defamation action should the offending posts not be removed or corrected promptly.

“We respect the right to free speech, but that right does not extend to spreading misinformation or damaging reputations,” Mr. Smith added. “We encourage everyone to act responsibly online and to contact page administrators before escalating matters publicly.”

Smithies Karaoke & DJ Hire remains committed to professionalism, transparency, and community respect across all areas of our business and social media networks.
